Phoenix: Rise from the ashes
Sometimes you just have to die a little inside in order to be reborn and rise again as a stronger and wiser version of you
The tale of phoenix is legendary and the most known myths. Despite the numerous similarities between the stories told in different cultures, it is not clear if ancient Egyptians are responsible for the origin of the Phoenix. In Egyptian mythology, a bird named Bennu is believed to have the same powers as the Phoenix. Phoenix is a long lived bird associated with many mythologies and is believed to be the only creature which can be reborn from ashes. According to the legends, only one phoenix lived at a time and only for 500 years which means Dumbledore was lucky to have Fawkes as he’s animal companion and defender. It was considered to signify that a good leader who was very wise had been given ruling power. It was also considered to be the sign of a new era. Phoenix is said to be concerned with life and death, creation and destruction and time.
There are several stories on why and how phoenix reborn. The Phoenix flew west into the mortal world. It travelled to the spice groves of Arabia to acquire the finest herbs and spices. It then headed to Phoenicia, which is where the creature was named after. The next morning, as the sun god dragged his horse across the sky, the Phoenix turned east to face him. It would then sing a beautiful song known to a man. As the sun god prepared to move his horses, the nest of herbs caught on fire. A new Phoenix would then rise from the ashes and carry its parent's ashes to Heliopolis, where it would return to Paradise until its cycle would end.
Let the ashes of hurt and pain become the launching pad of self-awareness, love and strength.
So, what we learn from phoenix is that everyone experiences hurt and pain. There is a deep desire to be loved and accepted, to feel beautiful, and to protect one another. The moment we understand that we are all in this together, in spite of the various degrees of our experiences, we are taking the first step to not only self-awareness singularly, but self-awareness amidst the masses. No more should we feel we have to bear the weight of any burden alone. We can always seek help through talking, writing, singing etc.
